For my non-traditional material I used confetti sprinkles. When I was choosing my project I originally saw the picture that I was going to use of the crying women, but didn't know what I wanted to make it out of. I had seen the picture before and seen the pop art style before and really wanted to use that type of art for my project. I found the right size sprinkles later and choose to start the project. I first glued the background paper in its correct sections so that the color would be able to be seen through the sprinkles. The project is unfinished because it takes a lot of time to get the small parts in. For the hair it gets very small and I have to cut the sprinkles to the right size to fit. I also have to make sure that it ends up ones together correctly and no spaces. The process of glueing down the sprinkles I have to use tweezers to grab the sprinkle and place it correctly because the sprinkle, especially when it's cut, can get very small. The sprinkles isn't the hardest material I have worked with but its just very time consuming and fragile. Before starting I had to sort all the sprinkles to make sure I had enough and make the process generally go faster. While cutting the sprinkles I usually just wanted to make one cut to get two pieces. But, the sprinkles are fragile enough that sometimes cutting it makes the sprinkle completely shatter. I was really unsure about how this was going to turn out but I'm happy with it and I will finish it in the near future.
